Girl knows her Daddy, part 2 (and pears)

A rough 24 hours around here. Yawn.

Mr. P went out of town in the wee hours yesterday morning, before the Critter woke up. He comes back late tonight, after the Critter goes to bed. So in her world 2 days without Daddy.

And she is none too happy about it, let me tell you.

How does she know?? Last night she cried like I've never seen before. She was shaking so hard, so beet red, face so scrunched up, I thought she would implode. And this went on-and-off (but mostly on) until 11:30pm. She was put down at 7pm. OMG, this has NEVER happened before. It's stressful to listen to a wailing baby. And of course she was up at her usual 6:45am. Yawn.

Daddy is a huge part of her going-to-bed routine. And even if he doesn't put her to bed, as long as she sees him that day, things seem to be ok. But no Daddy, things no good. Ugh.

On a happier note, she LOVES pears. I peeled and cored some very ripe pears, put them in a saucepan with a tiny bit of water (although I think they were juicy enough that they didn't even need the water) for 4-ish minutes, then whirred them in the processor. I added too much of the cooking liquid, so it was a little thinner than I would have liked, but the Critter Girl did not mind. She slurped those things down like there was no tomorrow. On par with her love for nanas, if not higher. LOVE. And I think they will play nice with other things, like apples or sweet taters. So add another food to the list of Critter yumminess.

Now, off to rest my eyes. Yawn.

  1. Poor Critter...and poor Pie for having a rough night. Hopefully things will calm down for her tonight. Fingers crossed.

I love pears, too. Although I never eat them. I'm not sure why. This story makes me want to head to the grocery store and get some pears.right.now. :-)

  4. Your post made me tear up (I'm really hormonal lately lol) thinking of how much Critter must love her Daddy. Awww, that is so special. I am hoping my DH has a similar bond with our daughters. Sorry that you had to listen to her wail--hope you're able to get some sleep tonight!

  5. I'm sorry to hear the Critter was so upset by her daddy being gone, although that is awfully sweet too. And hooray for pears. Sounds like she is a really good eater.

  6. Oh it just breaks my heart to hear Davie cry and not be able to make it better. It must've been a really rough night for y'all! At least the pears can make up for a little bit of it. :)
I loved living in the city as a single woman, but after a year of being married we were really happy to move to the suburbs. Even with the commute to work, it's totally worth it. I love the community family feel.

  7. I just caught up on your last 5 posts, yes I'm behind on everything as usual! I may not comment as often, but I'm still following along. =)

Isn't it so much fun letting them try new foods! I'm so glad you're making critter's baby food, sooooo much better than that jarred stuff. Tyler LOVES bananas too but they constipate him a little. I always try to counteract it something non-constipating like pears or avocados. Tyler didn't like avocados at first either, now it rates right up there with bananas. I would keep trying every couple of weeks as the fat in them is sooo good for their brain development.

Well, I hope your hubby gets home soon so critter girl can settle down. Those blood curdling wails are heart wrenching aren't they! Have a great Sunday!
