It was so fast! Less than 3 weeks after my embies' DNA was mailed off to some lab somewhere, I have the genetic testing results back!
So of the 5 blasts, here's what we got:
2 normals (Day 5 4BB, Day 6 3BB)
2 abnormal (one monosomy 2, other trisomy 22)
1 no result (the Day 5 6AB)
We are right on with the rest of the study results this time, with approximately 50% coming back genetically normal. We decided to re-test the "no result" embie, so maybe another 3-4 weeks to find out about that one. I don't fully understand why they get "no result" but I've heard of other people getting a normal result back after a "no result".
Gotta tell you, I make some good 3BB blasts! I make a lot of them, and damn if they are not often normal! Mr. P and I are really happy with these results, and if the 6AB comes back normal, well, that's just icing on the frozen cake. An ice-cream cake, I guess.
Onward to fibroid surgery!

Fantastic news!!!!! So happy for you! Now if we could just speed up the time to FET and get you knocked up! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to pretend I knew what all that means, but I don't. So I'll just say I'm happy that you're happy! =)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes with your surgery!
This is really great news! I just watched a Baby Story episode with a couple who got pregnant with IVF and did the same genetic testing first. Sounds like it really increases the chances for a successful pregnancy! Here's hoping!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Super Blast Maker! Wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Maddy
What an amazing feeling it must be knowing you have so many "normals" waiting to come home with you. =) Such great news!
ReplyDeleteGood news!! I have no idea what these number mean, but if you're happy, I'm happy!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the upcoming surgery.
So great! I am excited for you!! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteYou know, after you told me the turnaround time wasn't six weeks right now, I emailed Danielle and she said no, it is actually 5-6 weeks because of the number of patients doing PGD. So maybe you got in at exactly the right time? Or maybe she just tells everyone that and my results will be back soon. One can dream.
Fun JMU thing: I actually went to see the Dukes play basketball this week in Atlanta! They played Ga. State U. and lost. A bunch of alums were there in their purple and gold. I really wanted to sing the fight song but we had no cheerleaders or band. It was still a fun thing to do -- kind of weird b/c most people down here are like JMU? What's that?
Wow you are really having some awesome, awesome luck! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteWow! So glad you are getting more great little embryos for your FET. Good luck on the myomectomy. Hope it goes smoothly for you and that you recover soon. Did you ever mention what kind or how many fibroids you have? I had one huge one that was intramusuclar.
ReplyDeletegood news pie! What a relief. xx
