So much for zen

The monitoring appointment did not go so great today. And honestly, I'm not really sure what all of this means. I was so up on IVF, but actually being pregnant - I have no clue.

So my e2 was at 300 - which is down from beta (328) and just at the minimum (which is 300). The nurse did not alter my estrogen meds, I'm staying on 4 viv.elle patches, every other day. Gluey tummy continues.

But my p4 was down, from 19.6 to 15.3. And they want it over 20. Yikes. My nurse said I was already on a ton of progesterone, but they are upping my doses. So now 3 prome.trium suppositories/day (yuck, so much for avoiding the coochie sludge) up from 2/day, and up to 1.5cc of PIO, up from 1cc.

Is this bad? Is this hurting the chances of this baby? I really have no idea, and it is freaking me out a bit.

Wasn't I just saying I had nothing to worry about? Clearly, someone heard me and gave me something. Damn.

  1. Ugh. If it's comforting, I was on WAY more progesterone than that - try 6 suppositories a day + injections. And baby is fine. Shall be thinking good thoughts & hoping this is just another bit of terror on the path to perfectly healthy baby. Thinking of you.

  2. While I didn't struggle with low e2, I did struggle quite a bit with lower p4 and all turned out fine. I remember how stressful these levels were. Hang in there, thinking of you! Hugs

  3. My clinic doesn't monitor the E2 after pregnancy is achieved but I was told your progesterone should be at least 15 after pregnancy is confirmed. That if you are one of the fertile pregnant women of the world then your progesterone only needs to be 15. My first and only progesterone test was at 10dp5dt and it was 16.2. Because my cycle was a FET they increased my PIO from 1cc to 1.5cc once per day. They said they didn't want to take any chances since I had a previous miscarriage with a high risk pregnancy. I'm not sure if this helps but it's all I've got!
Hang in there and try not to get too freaked out just yet (I know, easy for me to say)

  5. I'm so sorry to hear that you're experiencing some anxiety. Fingers crossed that the meds increase will increase your levels and that your u/s will show that beautiful heartbeat!

  6. I am sorry you have one more thing to worry about. My first P4 was 6.5 (at something around 18 DPO - it was a non-treatment cycle surprise BFP so I don't know exactly), it only went up to 9.6 two days later and I started supplements (400 mg orally) and 6 days later it was up to 25.4. It can also vary from day to day, so the fact that it's down a bit doesn't necessarily mean that it's dropping. I also had spotting accompanying the low progesterone. That was in January. Today I'm 20 weeks pregnant (and, in fact, I've spotted for one reason or another through the entire pregnancy to this point). I never had E2 levels tested so I can't help there. I hope this helps!

  7. Please don't freak out about the E2 and P4. Mine were all over the place starting from the first check after my first beta up until 14 weeks, when I was finally weaned from everything (I ended up on massive amounts of both progesterone and estrogen).

This early, the placenta has not kicked in, so it's all artificial and doesn't mean anything regarding the viability of the pregnancy (at least that's what my local RE told me). You need to keep your P4 up or you will start spotting/bleeding (which also happened to me and CCRM wasn't all that much of a help when it did happen), but the additional suppository and PIO should do that.

  8. I can't contribute much in the way of anecdotes, but I can send good sticky vibes - wishes for a good next step - and my bloggy support. Fingers (toes, etc.) all crossed Pie!

  9. I don't know much about the E2 and P4 levels... But I do know this: remember that the genetic counselor told me that among women who've got normal embryos and get past the positive beta, the miscarriage rate is only 4-5%. So you are 95-96% likely to be just fine. Take a deep breath and hang in there. I hope that P4 skyrockets between now and next Tuesday!

  10. oh Pie, I'm sorry you have these worries. I, like you, am completely ignorant in the ways of pregnancy but i am thinking of you and hoping so much that it all works out. I hope you get some good advice from the other ladies on Prog levels. I think its natural to automatically worry and think the worst and I know you'll feel so much better once you get to that ultrasound appointment and can have the visual acknowledgement that you need that your baby is ok in there. xxx Sending you all my love.
