I had my blood draw for beta #2 at 9am. I didn't get the results call until almost 7pm. ARGH!! And then Dancing with the Stars/Cubs game/Lost came on, so I did not update til now. Sorry!!
Anyway, no need to keep y'all in suspense too - beta doubled (almost exactly) at 404. So no more betas for me. Here's the obligatory chart:

Yay! I go in a week for e2 and p4 monitoring, and in about 2 weeks for the u/s.
Question for you smart ladies and gents - how far along should you be to see the heartbeat? I always thought it was later in the 6th week, even into the 7th, but they want me in earlier than that. More like 6w2d. This seems early to me. Thoughts?
Symptoms: Yup. Boobs still KILLING me (although it seems to go in waves), tummy not nauseous, but feeling a bit off. Tired. Thirsty. And the progesterone is really trying hard to keep things...ummm....slow moving. I'm eating dried fruit and doing a shot of aloe vera juice (yuck!) every day. It seems to be helping a bit.
And lastly, thank you so so sooooo much for all the congrats, well wishes and shout-outs of support. It just means so much to me. Thank you, thank you, thank YOU!
Great news Pie! I'm so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteI have been thirsty for most of my pregnancy so far. I'm also taking Colace daily. For a while I thought "surely I don't need this anymore" and stopped taking it. I was wrong. I need it. Every day. Even now.
As far as the first u/s - they just do it sometime in the sixth week. I was at 6w5d while others have been a bit earlier in the week. I haven't figured out a rhyme or reason for why some folks are earlier and some later and really, I don't think there is one.
Aww, I have come across your blog a couple times but never commented. Congratulations! We saw the heartbeat at 6w3d so you may be able to see it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that your beta doubled and that things are progressing well. Try to find lots of things to keep you occupied for the wait for ultrasound!
ReplyDeleteYippee on the great 2nd beta!!! You are so preggo my friend!!! I had my first u/s at 6w1d and the little guy was measuring 3mm with a HB of 117 bpm, so you should be good to go on 6w2d. Let me warn you, waiting on that u/s and waiting to see that little flicker is torture! Keep yourself very busy! ;-)
ReplyDeletePS... thank you for the sweet comment on my blog!!
Yay! At the very least the U/S will check the size and lining of the uterus to let them know where things are implanting. There may even be a "heartbeat" although it's not necessarily a heartbeat at this stage but blood running through arteries that will form around the heart eventually. Keeping you in my thoughts.
ReplyDeletegreat news!!!! I think that you will likely see a hb at your u/s..but some folks hold off a bit longer just to be sure...Oh! so exciting to read you thinking about the six week ultrasound!
ReplyDeletemo
Yay for doubling!!! : ) This is so exciting!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you made us all wait because of Dancing with the Stars! ; )
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update and YAY!!!
So excited for you. Have a great day.
Congrats! Congrats! This is a suggestion from an old labor and delivery nurse, try some prune juice that has been heated in the microwave. It actually tastes really sweet and that should do the trick. I once knew an elderly home health patient who use to make a night time concoction she called a happy brown cow. I told her I knew what a brown cow was ( prune juice, warmed, with milk of magnesia) what was her drink? Oh, it was the same, but she just added a 5mg of Valium so she didn't worry so much about the issue until the brown cow started to work!
ReplyDeleteYay for doubling betas! Hope things keep on going great for u!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! :-) So happy for you!
ReplyDeleteWoo-hoo, congratulations!!! So happy for you, my RE did an u/s at 6wks & then again at 8wks.
ReplyDeleteOh pie that is awesome that the beta is doubling nicely!!!!
ReplyDeleteRe the heartbeat... I saw a very clear heartbeat on a scan at 6w1d so it's defintely possible. But you shouldn't be worried if there is no hb at your scan becuase lots of people don't see it till later in 6th week or in the 7th week so I think its just one of those grey areas.
xx
I'm so very happy for you. What a great beta number! I can't wait to follow you through this pregnancy. I have a spot in the "PG after IF" folder for your blog!!
ReplyDeleteThis is just great. 6 weeks can be early - don't freak if you don't hear a heartbeat. We were warned it can be a stretch to hear a heart beat at 6 weeks. The mental switch from where you have been to where you are will pass more over time. Well done again. We are so happy for you both.
